Getting started

Download Lifecycle-Setup.exe and run it as Administrator. The default folder is C:\Program Files\Lifecycle; you can pick another path in the wizard.

Setup copies the app, installs Node if needed, and starts the Lifecycle and LifecycleFrontend Windows services (they start again after reboot). It also registers Lifecycle Tray Control for your user (Start menu and at logon).

Setup opens the hostname you chose (default is your instance id on lifecycle.lol, for example demo.lifecycle.lol). On the LAN you may also use the hostname from Setup.

lifecycle.lol itself is the create-instance / marketing site, not the staff desk. Staff work on the instance subdomain (or your on-prem hostname).

On lifecycle.lol, sign in with Microsoft using a company email domain, name an instance, and Start instance. Preview shows name.lifecycle.lol. After create, open that hostname for the desk.

Company domains can hold more than one instance (contoso, then contoso-2, …). See Instances and invites for sibling desks and Request invite.

After install (or first desk open), connect directories under Settings → Connections. Preferred sign-in (Microsoft 365 / Entra vs On-prem AD) lives on Connections. Hosted *.lifecycle.lol paths use Microsoft only.

Create the lifecycle-svc service account from Setup or copy the PowerShell from Settings → Connections → On-prem AD and run it elevated on a domain controller. HTTPS is optional - Issue certificate in Setup, or copy the CA command from Connections → Entra.

IT Admin: Settings → Access - grant yourself and colleagues IT / HR roles. Settings → Notifications - set a real From address before desk mail (portal links, return reminders, invites) can send.

HR: open Onboard from the top bar and create a sample hire so IT sees a ticket. IT: open Inventory and confirm categories (including Licenses) appear under the carousel.
